Welcome

Saskatoon On behalf of the Pacific Northwest Region of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International I welcome you to attend our Annual Regional Conference, July 11, 12, 13 and 14, 2007. We are holding our Conference in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. This jewel of a City is located on the scenic banks of the South Saskatchewan River, in the centre of the Great Canadian Prairies.

BROADEN YOUR HORIZON
This year's theme "Broaden Your Horizon" will provide you with an opportunity to expand your vision in regard to educational facility planning by attending educational sessions highlighting new, unique and alternate approaches to school facility projects. Our two keynote presentations by Mr. Jim Hopson, former Teacher, Principal, Director of Education, Member of CEFPI, Professional Football Player and current CEO of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Professional Football Club, "Building a Foundation, Whether it be Football or Facilities", and Mr. Douglas Cardinal, an internationally recognized Canadian Architect with a creative indigenous Canadian style of architecture through his curvilinear, original buildings, will prove to motivate and inspire you.

Saskatoon has several exciting new schools to tour, including elementary and high schools, and the innovative Blairmore Centre, encompassing two high schools and a City owned competition pool and athletic facility.

Along with the excellent educational sessions the Committee has planned several great "Down Home" Hospitality events including a Prairie Evening on the 1910 Boom Town Street at the Western Development Museum, and an evening in the Garden at the Delta Bessborough Hotel.

As ever, our Industry Partner Exhibit and the Architectural Exhibit awarding the prestigious Pinnacle Regional Award will be an integral part of the Conference.

Saturday's optional events include golf and a barbecue dinner hosted at the beautiful Moon Lake Golf and Country Club, or the "History and Homes" Tour including lunch and the barbecue dinner at the Moon Lake Golf and Country Club.

We welcome everyone to attend and look forward to seeing you in Saskatoon.

Sincerely,

David C. Edwards
President, Pacific Northwest Region
